The Genisis of Sight & Sound Theatre

During the mid-1970s, Glenn Eshelman, Founder, with a desire to serve God embarked on a journey to captivate audiences with the stories from the Bible across the United States. His multimedia presentations also became the launching pad for putting the accounts on stage. At first, Glenn showed his productions in churches and auditoriums as slide shows in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It wasn’t until 1976 that he built the first Sight & Sound Theatre in a small building in Strasburg.

Expansion & Productions

Over time, the theatre continued to grow and expand. In 1987, they built a new, larger facility with over 2,000 seats. They continued to update their technology and expand their productions, creating more and more elaborate sets and special effects.

The theatre has witnessed the immense popularity of productions such as Samson, Noah, Jonah, Jesus, Miracle of Christmas, and Moses in recent years. Modern Innovations

In recent years, the theatre has added many modern touches to their productions. They’ve incorporated more high-tech lighting and sound equipment, such as projection mapping. This technology can make the stage appear as though it’s moving and recreate miraculous larger than life miraculous effects.

Striving to make their shows accessible to as many people as possible, sign language interpretation is offered on specific dates and times. Additionally, they provide assistive devices for those who are hearing impaired. These devices also offer closed captioning, as well as translations in Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Furthermore, they offer audio descriptions for individuals with visual impairments.
